Hi Parents!  We jumped into November this week and learned about the letter Nn.  We had fun coming up with tons of Nn words.

On Monday we started our week talking about our Nifty Names.  I decided to get our kids out of our classroom to do a group activity.  So we navigated our way to the big room to do a riddle/rhyming activity.  The kids needed to find the picture showing an Nn word that matched the riddle and rhyme I read to them.  They did so good!  Then we played a new listening game Clap Boom Grab.  They had to listen carefully for me to say Grab and then try to beat their partner in grabbing an object between them.  We were laughing the entire time!  It was nice to get out of the classroom for a while.  Then it was back to our room to work on their name books and an Nn maze.  The name books went home so they can finish them with you.

Tuesday we started the day with practicing our names on our dry erase quick kits.  We were a little off schedule and decided to go to the big room.  We started our super secret art project that you will find out about later.  We also worked on our Nifty Names again.  The kids had a worksheet to practice writing their names.  They needed to use a pencil, crayon, marker and then muti-color.  It was a listening and following directions challenge for them. Some definitely struggled but we had some great listeners too!

Wednesday is art day!  The kids got to see magic happen.  They used markers to color on tinfoil and then we sprayed a little water on the foil.  It was then time to see the magic when we placed a piece of cardstock on the tinfoil.  And their names appeared!  They thought it was pretty cool.  Back to our classroom for some short centers.  The theme today was Nn is for Numbers so we used our dot markers to count on a worksheet and worked as a team to put together a counting caterpillar puzzle. I also introduced them to my large dominos which they counted and matched the dots.  The kids seemed to enjoy the activities.

On Thursday it was Noodle Necklace day.  Of course the kids loved making noodle and bead necklaces.  Many even made patterns with theirs.  We also wrote, cut and pasted the Nn Says worksheet.  To get in some fine motor work the kids used letters to build their names in kinetic sand.  They also played with floam to make the letter Nn.

It was a challenging week for the kids and I’m proud we all did well in the end.  Next week is our Zz week!
