Hi Parents!

We had a great week of rainbows, robots, rectangles, and radical rockets for our Rr week!  Here are the details.

Monday started with a rainbow coloring sheet which detailed the correct order of colors.  During circle time we talked about our letter of the week and the sound it makes.  Today we had extra time outside our classroom in the foyer so we did our first Color the Room activity.  I hung cards all over the room with uppercase letters and the kids walked around and colored the corresponding letter on their paper.  We will do different variation of this activity all year long.  For the first time the kids did pretty good!  Back in our classroom with did a directed drawing of a frog which was a craft we finished from last week.  The frogs on their lillypads are adorable!  We ended the day with our 5 minutes of Heggerty and our daily devotion.

On Tuesday was another day of rainbows and started with the kids reading books.  During circle time we talked more about rainbows and the letter of the week.  For centers the kids worked on their The Rr Says write, cut and paste worksheet.  They also practiced writing their names on rainbow colors of construction paper.  In another center the kids practiced writing the letter Rr on our stand up dry erase board which is great fine motor work.  Another fine motor activity was putting stickers on a rainbow.  The kids really enjoyed all the rainbow activities.  We ended the day with our 5 minutes of Heggerty and our daily devotional.

Wednesday was art day!  Today was focused on rectangles and robots.  The kids started the day with an Rr coloring page. During our art time the kids built rectangle robots with construction paper.  They are adorable! Back in the classroom the kids worked on our first color by letter sheet and they did great!  Another center was line tracing a robot which is great hand eye coordination.  The kids also worked on matching cards using pom poms, tweezers and cups.  At the end of the day the kids got to play with toys together and we read a book.

On Thursday our theme was radical rockets.  The day started with playing our favorite toys together.  During circle time we reviewed how to write the letter Rr and the kids helped come up with words that begin with Rr.  At center time the kids worked on a alphabet rocket floor puzzle and practiced writing Rr’s on our dry erase quick kits.  They also used rocket themed 10 frame to count and match up numbers.  We also did a quick craft of a rocket count down from 10-1.  At the end of the day we watch a short Captain Seasalt video for the letter Rr and did our 5 minutes of Heggerty.

Another great week!  Next week is Pp week and our pumpkin patch fieldtrip!
