Hi Parents! Welcome to Pp week.  We had a good week with pumpkins, pizza, pajamas and popcorn!

On Monday, our theme was Pumpkins, and we started our day with a pumpkin coloring sheet.  The kids are always asking to bring home everything so they can finish.  The kids were flexing their fine motor muscles by writing, cutting and pasting the Pp Says worksheet.  We started the pumpkin pin punch also.  This is challenging for some and will help with pencil grip in the long run.  Our math center was working with counting to 10 using a 10 frame.  The kids picked cards that had a number 1-10 and had to count the correct number of bingo chips to put in the 10 frame.  We will be using 10 frames a lot this year.  The last center was more fine motor work using our geoboards and rubber bands to make upper case letters.  Today we read My Pp Book.

Tuesdays theme was P is for Pizza. We started the day practicing names in our quick kits.  The kids also worked on letter recognition while playing a match game with upper and lowercase letters, and circling Pp’s on an eye spy page.  We were only using the letters we have taught this year so far and it was difficult for most.  We’ll need to definitely include more letter recognition into our centers going forward.  The kids also got to use PlayDoh to make worms to form the letter Pp.  PlayDoh is a big favorite!  In addition we finished up our pumpkin pin punch and sent it home.  At the end of the day we read Froggy Picks a Pumpkin.

On Wednesday it was Pajamas and Popcorn day and of course, Art day!  The kids loved our art project today probably because it ended up being a little messy.  The kids used markers to color and decorate their mini pumpkins.  Very creative!  I also gave them stickers to make faces but those didn’t stick very well.  But the kids had fun.  And the big hit of the day was watching Spookly the Square Pumpkin and eating pirate booty.  I love this little movie.  I hope the kids enjoyed it too.  At the end of the day we read The Pumpkin Patch.

I hope everyone enjoyed the pumpkin patch today!  I didn’t get to see everyone so if you have any cute pictures, send them to me.  Have a great weekend!
