Hi Parents! We had a Really Radiant, Rambunctious and Remarkable Rr week. One of my favorite weeks.
On Monday we started the week with radiant rainbows. We did our first Color the Room activity that provided us a break from our classroom. I randomly taped letters on the walls of our foyer area. The kids had to look around the room for each letter then color the corresponding letter on their worksheet. This helps with letter recognition. The kids had so much fun with this activity! I was so happy with their excitement when they found a letter they knew. We will do more similar activities going forward. Back in our classroom with worked on writing our names on rainbow strips of paper for a super cute project. I’ll post a picture in GroupMe. The kids also practiced writing the letter Rr on a vertical dry erase board which is super important fine motor and grip strengthening. Also the kids worked on counting by building block towers on our numbered rainbow mats.
Tuesday was another rainbow day and also Chapel day. The kids started the day by practicing writing their names on their dry erase quick kits. After circle time we walked over to the church for Chapel. This month’s chapel was about all of Gods creations such a pumpkins. They were shown a tiny pumpkin seed and read a book about how the seed grows into a big pumpkin. We should all love and appreciate all of God’s creations. Back in our classroom the kids worked on a rainbow with dot stickers. They are really doing well with this kind of fine motor activity. Another center was matching opposites on rainbow cloud cards. And they are now pros at matching my popsicle upper and lower case letters.
Every week the kids look forward to Wednesday because its Art day! They started the day finding and coloring Rr’s on a worksheet. Then it was to our art room to make Rectangle Robots with rainbow colored construction paper. Many kids really loved decorating their robots so these were sent home. Back in the classroom we worked on our write, cut and paste The Rr Says page and used fun markers to trace a robot.
On Thursday our theme was R is for Rocket. We worked on building our Blast Off Rockets and the kids begged to bring them home. So they will be in their folders on Tuesday. Another center was our rocket A-Z floor puzzle. Last time with did this only one group finished the puzzle but this time every group proudly showed off a completed rocket! We did a little fun fine motor work with rocket scratch art too. And the kids used their creativity to draw themselves at a pumpkin patch for their monthly writing/coloring sample.
It was a really good week for sure. Next week we will continue our Fall and Pumpkin themes and have fun at our Harvest Party! Hope to see you all next week!
