This week we focused on the letter Bb. We talked about the sound the letter Bb makes and words that begin with the letter Bb. We came up with bear, balloon, butterfly, bug, boat and many others.

On Tuesday, we focused on the theme of butterflies. We began our day by coloring a Bb page. For morning centers, we made the equal number of butterfly eggs as what number was on the playdoh mat, traced/wrote the letter Bb, matched the beginning sound of the picture to the right letter, and worked on symmetry with butterfly cards. We, also, worked on our Bb says /b/ page. We read a bunch of books with a butterfly theme.

On Wednesday, we focused on the theme of bugs. In the morning, we had specials with the five all-day teachers. For centers, we played with a bug sensory bin, matched beginning sounds with a caterpillar theme and put together bug puzzles by working on number order. In the afternoon, we worked on “surprises” for King/Queen Day. We also got to watch a life cycle of a butterfly video. We read books about bugs.

On Thursday, we spent part of the day working on “surprises” for King/Queen Day. We focused on the book Brown Bear, Brown Bear. For centers, we worked on a Brown Bear animal count game, laced with Brown Bear themed cards, and worked on a Brown Bear creative writing. For art, we made a butterfly by coloring a paper plate, glued on a craft stick and used a pipe cleaner for the antenna.

Until next week,
