Hi Parents,

We had a great week with the letter Bb. Here’s a snapshot…

On Tuesday our theme was Bugs. In morning centers, the kids graphed with insects, practiced writing the letter Bb, and sorted colored bugs with tweezers. They also, completed a pattern worksheet by cutting and gluing what came next. In afternoon centers the kids found tiny bug cards in a rice bins and clipped them on clips, they measured bugs with unifix cubes, and made letters with playdough. We ended the day with an activity called ‘I am, who has…’ Each student got a card with food on it and had to find their match i.e. the peanut butter had to find the jelly. This is always a fun activity.

On Wednesday our theme was Brown Bear, Brown Bear. In centers the kids played a math board game, they worked on lacing cards with the brown bear book animals on them, and they completed a creative writing sheet where they had to write and draw what they saw. In the afternoon the kids rotated through specials learning Spanish, sign language, zoo phonics, and math/science. We ended the day by cutting out squares and rectangles and sorting the squares into a square taped on the floor and the rectangles into a rectangle taped to the floor.

On Thursday our theme was Butterflies. In morning centers, the kids added with Duplo blocks, cut and glued the butterfly life cycle, and drew their own butterfly with my instruction. These turned out so cute and will be in the binders at the end of the year. In afternoon centers, the kids put beads in bottles with funnels, they build with fidgets, and they made a bee out of the letter B. These are hanging in our classroom and will be sent home next week. We ended the day with art. The kids painted a butterfly with q-tips. They turned out really great!

Next week we are talking about the letter Kk. I can’t believe how quickly this year is flying by!

Take Care,

Missy
