Hi Parents,

We had a great week learning about the letter Qq. Here is a snapshot…

On Tuesday our theme was ‘Queen.’ In the morning, because we had graduation pictures, the kids did a count the room. There were tulips around the room with 10 frames on them. The kids had to find the tulips, count, and then write the number 4 times on their sheet. In afternoon centers, the kids cut and glued a crown with jewels, they cut and glued the word ‘queen,’ and they worked on a special project that will come home next week on King and Queen day! We ended the day by finishing up our work and playing with toys.

On Wednesday our theme was ‘Quilts.’ In the morning, the kids rotated through specials learning sign language, zoo phonics, Spanish, and science. In the afternoon the kids worked on their Q page and also weaved paper to make their own quilt square. For art the kids cut and glued pieces of paper to make another quilt square. I’ll put all of these together next week to make our own class quilt, which I will hang on the wall. The kids ended the day with chapel where they learned about Easter and what it means. Ask your child what he/she learned!

On Thursday we celebrated Easter in our classrooms. In morning centers, the kids counted easter erasers in to egg carton slots with numbers on them, they decorated eggs and cut and glued them in to a basket, they cut and glued a chick, and they matched upper and lowercase letters with plastic eggs. In the afternoon the kids had the chance to play several fun games with Mrs. Brenda’s class. They found eggs under red cups, they raced with eggs on spoons, they matched plastic eggs with silly faces on them, and they played a version of hot potato. They passed a paper egg with clothes pins and whenever the music stopped, the person with the egg had to hop like a bunny. It was a fun afternoon!

Next week we will talk about the letter Kk. Don’t forget that Tuesday is King and Queen day! It’s one of my favorite events.

Take Care,

Missy
