Hi Parents,

We had a great week talking about the letter Yy. Here’s a snapshot…

On Tuesday our theme was Yarn art. In morning centers, the kids laced a plate with yarn. The plate was hole punched with numbers 1-20 written on the holes and they had to lace in order. This was a good challenge for them! The kids also cut out the letter Y and hole punched it and made a monster by wrapping yarn around cardboard. They loved this project, hopefully the monsters made it home with all 3 eyes! 🙂 In afternoon centers the kids colored pictures that started with the letter y, they made shapes with rubber bands on geo boards, and they played with magnets while we finished our monsters from morning centers. We ended the day by doing a count the room. The kids had to count bees on flowers and write that number 5 times in the space next to the matching picture on their paper.

On Wednesday our theme was Yellow. In morning centers, the kids cut and glued the word ‘yellow’ and finished drawing the other half of a flower, they found letters in eggs and wrote the letter they found, and they weaved yellow pipe cleaners through cookie cooling racks. In the afternoon the kids rotated through specials learning Spanish, zoo phonics, sign language, and math/science. We ended the day by doing our monthly name writing and picture drawing.

On Thursday was our Easter party. We spent our morning center time in the big room playing with the parachute, eating a snack and rotating through some fun Easter egg games. The kids had a blast! In afternoon centers, the kids worked on a spring color by letter, they counted Easter erasers into egg carton slots with numbers on the bottom, and they started our art project by coloring 3 different types of eggs. We ended the day by finishing our art project and the color by letter. Those both made their way home.

I hope everyone has a great Easter weekend! Next week we will talk about the letter Bb.

Take Care,

Missy
