Hi Parents,
We had a wonderful week learning about the letter Cc. Here is a snap shot…
On Tuesday our theme was ‘If you give a mouse a cookie.’ In morning centers the kids matched beginning sounds in a cookie jar with cookies that had letters on them, they worked on a mouse color by letter, and they cut and glued patterns from the book. In afternoon centers the kids worked on an ornament for you, they finished their color by letter, and they made shapes with rubber bands on GEO boards. We also had practice for our Christmas play. We ended the day by reading our book ‘If you give a mouse a cookie’ and eating cookies!
On Wednesday our theme was ‘Clouds.’ In morning centers the kids worked on a creative writing page. I put paint on paper and squished it together then opened it saying it was a cloud. The kids wrote what they thought the cloud looked like. They also cut and glued their C page, and ripped white paper to make cloud shapes. In the afternoon for art, the kids made Christmas trees with their names. They cut and glued each piece! These are super cute and hanging in our hallway. We ended the day by finishing centers and then packing up our very special Christmas gifts that you will all get next week after the play.
On Thursday our theme was ‘Candy Canes.’ In morning centers the kids made candy canes with pipe cleaners and beads, they put paper clips on a paper candy cane to make the stripes, and they cut and colored triangles, which is our shape for the month. In the afternoon we had a full practice for our Christmas play. They have been working hard, I can’t wait for you to see them in action! We ended our day with toys. We were able to play with kids from all of the other classes, which the kids loved. We are going to work on mixing the classes more after the 1st of the year.
Don’t forget our Christmas play is Tuesday at 12:30 and then 2 more days of fun! Looking forward to it!
Take Care,
Missy
