Hi Parents,
We had a great week learning about the letter Vv. Here is a snapshot…
On Tuesday we had our Valentines day party. Since our party was in the afternoon, in morning centers, the kids built Valentine shapes with click blocks, they matched upper and lowercase letters that made a heart when matched correctly, and they cut and glued their V page. Before our party the kids did a letter ‘write the room.’ I put hearts around our classroom with letters and pictures that made the beginning sound on them. The kids had to find the different letters and write them 4 times on their paper. They then colored the pictures. We ended the day with our party. Thank you everyone that came and volunteered, the kids had a blast!
On Wednesday, in morning centers, the kids worked on a love bug themed ‘what number comes next’ page, they put window clings on a big white board, they counted Duplo blocks and built towers, and they laced a paper plate in the shape of a heart. In the afternoon the kids rotated through centers again and I included art as one of the centers. (usually we do art out at the lunch tables but because there were parties, we did art in our classroom) The kids painted a very special page for you, which will come home next week, they played with fidget toys, they built with kinetic sand and they also painted a heart with sponges. We ended our day with toys.
On Thursday, in morning centers, the kids counted heart erasers on to heart pages with numbers, they worked on a heart pin poke, they wrote about 3 things that they love, and they made shapes with popsicle sticks. In afternoon centers, the kids cut and glued a V into a vase with heart flowers, they finished their work from morning centers, they built with LEGO’s, and they worked on a beginning sound match. We ended our day by passing out our Valentines and doing treasure box.
Next week we will talk about the letter Hh. Looking forward to it!
Take Care,
Missy
