Hi Parents,
We had a great week learning about the letter Ll. Here is a snap shot…
On Tuesday our theme was ‘Love bugs.’ In morning centers, the kids counted and colored hearts on a love bug, they filled in what number comes next on a love bug number line, they cut and glued the word L-O-V-E, and they played with kinetic sand and heart/star cookie cutters. In the afternoon the kids cut and glued a love bug. For our extra big room time the kids worked on a ‘write the room.’ They walked around the big room looking for each letter of the alphabet and when they found the letter, they had to write it on their paper 3 times. We ended the day with chapel. The kids learned the story of the Good Samaritan, ask your child about it!
On Wednesday our theme was ‘Love Letters and Lollipops.’ In the morning the kids rotated through specials learning Spanish, science, zoo phonics, and sign language. In afternoon centers, the kids matched upper and lowercase letters, they wrote a love letter to their parents, they worked on a lollipop color by number, and they counted dots on a cup and had to match the correct lollipop with the number written on it. We ended the day with art. The kids painted a love bug with q-tips. These turned out cute and came home yesterday.
On Thursday our theme was ‘Learning Last Names.’ In morning centers, the kids played in trays of water with ducks and boats, they practiced writing their last name, they found all of the letters for their last name and ‘said it, built it, and spelled it.’ The kids also cut and glued their L page. In the afternoon the kids put stickers on their last name, played with magnet blocks and magnet people, and worked on a color by shape page. We ended the day by coloring and cutting lollipops.
Next week we are learning about the letter D. I can’t believe it’s the last week of February already! Looking forward to it.
Take Care,
Missy
