Hi Parents,

This week we had fun talking about the letter H. Here is a snapshot…

On Tuesday our theme was ‘Hearts.’ In morning centers, the kids graphed with conversation hearts, they made a necklace with heart noodles and wooden beads, and they cut out hearts and then used a hole puncher to punch holes in them. In afternoon centers the kids laced different letters, they built letters out of shapes, and they cut, glued, and colored the word ‘love’ on a sheet with hearts. We ended the day with a following directions project. The kids colored the nose, scarf, and hat of a snowman and then cut out all of the pieces and glued them on a wintery background. These turned out great!

On Wednesday our theme was ‘Crazy Hair or Hat Day.’ In morning centers, the kids counted buttons on to the crazy hair (pipe cleaners) of little toilet paper guys I made, they cut hair sheets, and they made a hat. First, they cut it out, then they decorated it with paint dabbers, and finally they glued cotton balls for the poof at the top. In the afternoon the kids rotated through specials with all of the teachers learning Spanish, sign language, zoo phonics, and science/math. We ended the day with a walk outside and chapel. The kids learned about how Jesus fed the 5,000. Ask your child about it!

On Thursday our theme was ‘Home sweet Home.’ In morning centers, the kids made a house by cutting out shapes and gluing them, they wrote their addresses, and they glued words that begin with the letter H on to a house. In afternoon centers, the kids worked on their addresses again and finished up their work from morning centers. We ended the day with art. The kids tore white paper and glued it on blue paper to make a snowflake. These turned out cute and will come home next week!

Next week we talk about the letter D. One of my favorites!

Take Care,

Missy
