This week we focused on the letter Hh. We talked about the sound the letter Hh makes and words that start with the letter Hh. We came up with heart, horse, house, hippo, hand, hat, and hill.

On Tuesday, we focused on the theme of hearts. For start-up, we did a Hh page. For morning centers, we played a heart subitizing game, did our Hh says /h/ cutting page, matched upper and lowercase ABCs with a heart theme, graphed with candy hearts and counted how many we had in that row. For afternoon centers, we practiced tracing/writing the letter Hh, did a heart matching number game, made hearts with tanagram puzzles, and did a Hh letter review page. At the end of the day, we played color/shape bingo.

On Wednesday, we focused on the theme of crazy hair/hat day. For start-up, we did a find the letter Hh page. For morning centers, we colored a hat color by number, practiced cutting wiggly/zig zag line to make “hair”, dew a picture of a crazy hairstyle, and rolled dice and put that number of beads on pipe cleaners (hair). In the afternoon, we met with all four all-day teachers for specials. At the end of the day, we finished our hat color by number page.

On Thursday, we focused on the theme of “Home Sweet Home”. For start-up, we traced our addresses and phone numbers. For morning art, we cut and pasted construction paper cut-out shapes to make our house. For afternoon centers, we added with candy hearts, did a beginning sound Hh page, traced our address and phone numbers, and built houses with colored popsicle sticks. At the end of the day, we practiced our phone numbers and had chapel.

Until next week,
