Hi Parents,
We had a great week learning about the letter Dd! Here is a snap shot…
On Tuesday our theme was ‘Dentist.’ In morning centers, the kids rolled a die and covered teeth with numbers on them, they rolled letter dice, found the letter on teeth, and then erased the letter with a tooth brush. They also worked on some rhyming. In afternoon centers we played the alligator tooth game (I posted pictures on GroupMe), they wrote their name and drew something they love, they matched letters on a tooth, and they made shapes on Geo boards. For our extra big room time we did the letter Ll ‘Hey riddle riddle’ and then we played the instruments. The kids loved it! We ended the day by finishing centers from earlier in the day.
On Wednesday our theme was ‘Dinosaurs.’ In the morning the kids rotated through specials learning sign language, Spanish, zoo phonics, and science. Before lunch we took small dinosaur eggs and put them in water so the dinosaur would hatch by Thursday. In afternoon centers the kids played with dinosaurs and eggs with kinetic sand, they cut and glued dinosaurs making them match, they made their print plate for art, and they measured dinosaurs with unifix cubes. We ended the day with art. The kids had made print plates with foam stickers earlier in centers, they then painted the ‘plate’ and stamped it on the outline of a dinosaur. These turned out cute.
On Thursday our theme was again ‘Dinosaurs.’ In morning centers, the kids cut and glued their Dd page, they made a dinosaur with kinetic sand and dinosaur molds, they worked on dinosaur tangrams, and they wrote about having a pet dinosaur. In the afternoon the kids colored, cut and glued a dinosaur puzzle. They did a really great job cutting and putting all of the numbers back in order! We ended the day by getting our hatched dinosaurs out of their eggs, and we played the pencil game. Ask your kids how to play it!
Next week is the beginning or March already! We will talk about the letter Ee. Looking forward to it!
Take Care,
Missy
