This week we focused on the letter Dd. We talked about the sound the letter Dd makes and words that begin with the letter Dd. we came up with dinosaur, dental, doctor, donut, deer and dentist.
On Tuesday, we focused on the theme of dental. For morning centers, we rolled a die and covered up that number on a dental themed page, did a cut and paste good/bad dental worksheet, traced/wrote the letter Dd, and put together dental puzzles. For afternoon centers, we practiced flossing with Duplo blocks and playdoh, played an ABC teeth cleaning game, did the Dd says /d/ page, and practiced rhyming with a dental theme. At the end of the day, we talked about what items are good/bad for our teeth and placed them on the right tooth. We also read books about dental.
On Wednesday, we focused on the theme of dinosaurs. For morning centers, we made ten frames with a dino theme, played with kinetic sand and dinos, did a dinosaur creative writing, and measured dinosaurs with unifix cubes. In the afternoon, we had specials with all four all-day teachers. At the end of the day, we got to pick a dino egg and put it in watch to watch them hatch. We also read books about dinosaurs.
On Thursday, we continued to focus on dinosaurs. For art, we made shape dinosaurs. For afternoon centers, we put together dinosaur tanagrams, used dinosaur molds and kinetic sand to make dinosaurs, match upper and lower-case ABCs with a dino theme, and cut and pasted a dino theme page. At the end of the day, we took out dinosaurs that hatched out of the eggs. We also read more dinosaurs books.
