This week we focused on the letter Dd. We talked about the sound the letter Dd makes and words that begin with the letter Dd. We came up with dog, dinosaur, doctor, donut, our friend, Daliah, and dig.

On Tuesday, we focused on the theme of dental health. For start-up, we practiced tracing our addresses and phone numbers. For morning centers, we played a dental themed roll and cover game, did a good/bad for your teeth worksheet, traced/wrote the letter Dd, and put together dental themed puzzles. For afternoon centers, we practiced flossing with duplo blocks, yarn and kinetic sand, played an ABC teeth cleaning game, did our Dd says /d/ page, and tried matching the rhyming words with a dental theme. At the end of the day, we talked about what things are good/bad for your teeth.

On Wednesday, we focused on the theme of dinosaurs. For morning start-up, we practiced tracing/writing our full names. For morning centers, we did dinosaur themed tanagrams, played with dinosaurs and kinetic sand, did a dinosaur creative writing, and measured dinosaurs with unifix cubes. In the afternoon, we had specials with all four all-day teachers. At the end of the day, we put dinosaur eggs in water and observed them cracking and opening up to show a dinosaur.

On Thursday, we focused on the theme with Dr. Seuss. For start-up, we colored a Thing 1 and Thing 2 coloring page. For morning art, we made a Thing 1 or Thing 2 with our handprints. For afternoon centers, we played a Dr. Seuss I-Spy game, did a Cat in the Hat rhyming page, matched upper and lowercase ABCs with a Cat in the Hat theme, and matched the number of stars with the correct number on Thing 1 and Thing 2. At the end of the day, we colored, cut out and made a Cat in the Hat, hat.

Until next week,
