Hi Parents, we had a great week with the letter L! Here’s a snapshot…

On Tuesday our theme was Love Bugs. In morning centers the kids counted and colored hearts on a love bug, they cut and glued letters in sequence, and they made a love bug with their names. These turned out really cute and are currently hanging in our hallway. In afternoon centers, the kids played love bug tic tac toe, worked on number sequencing, and cut out hearts to make another love bug. These were sent home! We ended the day by playing a Dr. Seuss game and reading our Mercy Watson book.

On Wednesday our theme was Last Names. In morning centers, the kids wrote the numbers 1-20 and also wrote which number comes between, they worked on a last name sheet where they had to write and spell their last name and also count the letters. The kids also worked on a last name book, which had several activities in it. We will finish the books next week and I will send them home. In the afternoon the kids rotated through specials learning Spanish, sign language, zoo phonics, and science/math. We ended the day with our monthly name writing page.

On Thursday our theme was Love Letters. In centers the kids worked on Valentine themed 10 frames, they matched upper and lowercase letters, and they made you a pop-up card. Those turned out really cute even though they were small. I hope you enjoyed them! In the afternoon the kids worked on a letter ‘write the room.’ They had to find the picture on the wall that matched the picture on their page and then write the letter that made the beginning sound. I posted a few pictures on Group Me, the kids writing, and letter formation is really improving!! We ended the day with art. The kids glued strips of paper across a heart. I’ll trim and glue the backs on this weekend and send them home next week!

Next week we are talking about the letter V. Don’t forget our Valentine party is on Wednesday from 10-10:45. Looking forward to it!

Take Care,

Missy
