This week we learned about the letter D. Tuesday was a Dental Health day. For morning work, we colored a tooth and toothbrush. In morning centers, we practiced writing upper and lowercase D’s, wrote numbers on tooth cards and erased with toothbrushes, played picture dominoes, and did a cutting and gluing “good for your teeth and bad for your teeth” page. In afternoon centers, we made a healthy teeth book, “flossed” teeth using kinetic sand and Legos, played real dominoes, and played the crocodile dentist game. They loved this crocodile game! At the end of the day, we finished our healthy teeth books, played games, and got a demonstration on how to brush our teeth. We ended with story time with some dental books.

Wednesday was Dino day! We started the day finding all the D’s. For centers, we wrote about if we had a pet dinosaur, matched beginning letter sounds with their corresponding pictures of dinosaur eggs, played a dinosaur math game, and did our D cutting page. For phonics specials, we watched our Zoophonics video and practiced our letter sounds for the different letters and animals. At the end of the day, we made Dino hats. These turned out so cute! We also put our dinosaur eggs in water so they can hatch overnight!

Thursday was Dr. Seuss Day. We started the day writing our first and last names and phone numbers and addresses. For centers, we did our D review page, did a cat in the hat rhyming word match, played a 1 fish 2 fish dice counting game, and played with diamonds in kinetic sand. For art, we made thing 1 and thing 2 hand print paintings along with dinosaur crayon rub art. At the end of the day, we made pretend green eggs and ham and saw our hatched dinosaur eggs. They got to take these home. If you put them back into the water, they may grow a little bit more! Next week, Mrs. Laura will be teaching while I’m on vacation. She will be teaching the letter E with Elephant fun, All about Emotions, and E is for egg (Humpty Dumpty) day! Have fun and will see you the following week for G week 🙂
