This week we focused on the letter Ii. We talked about the sound the letter Ii makes and words that begin with the letter Ii. We came up with igloo, ice cream, ice skating, and inchworm.

On Tuesday, we focused on the theme of igloos & ice cubes. For start-up, we colored an Ii page. For morning centers, we made towers with unifix cubes by matching the numbers on the card, had fun with magnets, traced/wrote the letter Ii, and painted our igloo and snowy background with Duplo Blocks. After center, we did our Ii says /i/ page. In the afternoon, we drew a penguin by following directions. They turned out so funny!!!! At the end of the day, we were evaluated on some more things for our mid-year evaluations.

On Wednesday, we focused on the theme of indoor ice skating. For start-up, we practiced tracing/writing our first and last names. Then in the big room, we got to “indoor ice skate”. For morning centers, we played a mitten match game, played with artic animals and kinetic sand, made letters with geoboards, and colored our ice skate. In the afternoon, we got to tear up foil and glue it on our ice skate. At the end of the day, we colored a color by letter Ii igloo page.

On Thursday, we focused on the theme of ice cream. For start-up, we played with manipulatives while we waited for all our friends to arrive. For morning centers, we played an ice cream I-spy game, made igloos out of ice cubes, matched our ABCs with a popsicle theme, and did an ice cream push pin art. Then we laced our ice skate art. For afternoon art, we put together our Eskimo/igloo art. At the end of the day, we got to eat ice cream!!! It was so yummy!!!!

Until next week,
