Hi Parents,

Here’s a snapshot of our week with the letter W!

On Tuesday, our theme was Winter Wonderland. In morning centers, the kids counted buttons on to snowmen that had numbers on their hats, they completed a snow globe beginning sound match, and they identified their last name in bubble letters and then decorated it. In afternoon centers the kids used kinetic sand with snowman cookie cutters, completed a roll and cover, and finished our monthly name writing and coloring sheet. We ended the day by doing puzzles and finishing the monthly coloring page.

On Wednesday the theme was Watermelons. In morning centers, the kids drew a card and counted ‘seeds’ (beads) on to a slice of watermelon, they cut and glued a pink W on to a green watermelon, and they outlined watermelon shapes with beads. In the afternoon the kids rotated through specials learning Spanish, sign language, math/science, and zoo phonics. We ended the day with an activity called ‘Hey riddle, riddle’ for the letter W. Ask your kids about it!

On Thursday our theme was Wonderful Weather. In morning centers, the kids counted marshmallows on to cups of hot cocoa with numbers on them, they did a shape match with snowmen by cutting, gluing, and matching the correct shapes. They also started working on a weather book and painted with watercolor on the letter W. In afternoon centers the kids, worked on pom pom mats, letter pattern blocks, and finished their weather books from morning centers. We ended the day with art. The kids finger painted snow on to a tree. My hope is to paint a tree for each season this year!

Next week we talk about the letter I. Don’t forget that conferences are on Friday!

Take Care,

Missy
