This week we focused on the letter Ss. We talked about the sound the letter Ss makes and words that begin with the letter Ss. We came up with snowman, snow, snake, Sunday, and sports.
On Tuesday, we focused on the theme of snowmen. For morning centers, we made numbers out of snap cubes, worked on our beginning sounds with a snowman theme, did a cut and paste worksheet by putting different size snowmen in order from shortest to tallest, and practiced writing the letter Ss. In the afternoon we practiced our scissors skills by coloring and cutting out pieces and then glued them together to make a snowman. We also got some choice time to play with our friends. We read books with a snowman theme.
On Wednesday, we focused on the theme of sports. We got to wear our favorite sports team jersey to school. In the morning, we had specials with the five all-day teachers. For centers, we worked on counting with sport themed clip cards, we did a snowman sequencing page, made our letters with a football themed center, and played a sports I-Spy game. in the afternoon, we did our Ss says /s/ page. We read books with a sports theme.
On Thursday, we focused on the theme of superheroes. For morning art, we made a “Ss is for Superhero” art project. In The afternoon, we did our centers, here we colored a superhero color-by-number, worked with snap cubes and winter themed cards, matched our upper- and lower-case ABCs with a superhero theme, and made a “Super City” with unifix blocks and rolling a die. We read a couple of books about superheroes.
Until next week,
