This week we focused on the letter Ii. We talked about the sound the letter Ii makes and words that begin with the letter Ii. We came up with igloo, ice skating, ice cream, icicle, and insect.

On Tuesday, we focused on the theme of igloos and ice cubes. For start-up, we did a find the letter Ii page. For morning centers, we used tweezers to count out the number of cotton balls on the snowman, painted our igloo and snowy background, traced/wrote the letter Ii, and put magnet dots on an Ii is for igloo page. For afternoon centers, we colored our eskimo for our igloo project, did our the Ii says/I/page, colored an Ii color by number, and made letters with geoboards and rubber bands. At the end of the day, we got our picture taken for our eskimos.

On Wednesday, we focused on the theme of indoor ice skating. For start-up, we practiced writing our numbers 11-20. For morning centers, we did a winter graphing page, did an uppercase to lowercase mitten match, wrote the letter Ii in different sizes, and decorated our cutout ice skate. In the afternoon, we had specials with all four all day teachers. At the end of the day, we finished decorating our ice skate cut out.

On Thursday, we focused on the theme of “Ii is for ice cream”. For start-up, we practice writing our first and last names. For morning art, we assembled our igloo/eskimo project. For afternoon centers, we rolled a die and put that many pom poms on an ice cream cone page, laced our ice skate cut out, made our ABCs with pop its, and played an ice cream I-spy game. At the end of the day, we got to eat ice cream and after that we had chapel in the church.

Until next week,
