This week we focused on the letter Xx. We talked about the sound the letter Xx makes and a few words that start with the letter Xx.

On Tuesday, we focused on the theme of “Xx is for x-ray”. For morning centers, we counted up “tally bones” and did a skeleton fish dot-to-dot, matched the x-ray using magnifying glasses with the correct animal, wrote Xx’s in different sizes, and made our ABCs with snap cubes. For afternoon centers, we traced/wrote Xx, rolled a die and picked up that many “bones” (Q-Tips), put together a skeleton puzzle, and built with blocks. At the end of the day, we cut out and glued together a xylophone craft.

On Wednesday, we focused on the theme of “x at the end”. For morning centers, we made our numbers 0-20 with pop-its, cut and pasted the letter x at the end of words, did a “box” creative writing to go with our story, and put together linking chains according to the cards. In the afternoon, we had specials with the four all-day teachers. At the end of the day, we played ABC and number bingo.

On Thursday, we focused on the theme of “X marks the spot”. For morning art, we made an x-ray out of Q-Tip’s and tracing our hand/arm. For afternoon centers, we did a pirates pattern worksheet, did the Xx says /x/ page, assembled our treasure map, and practiced our first/last name writing. At the end of the day, we had a treasure hunt with our maps in the foyer. We had a great time!!!!

Until next week,
