This week was X week. We started the week with X for X-ray day on Tuesday. In the morning, we read books with friends. In morning centers, we practiced writing upper and lowercase X, did an alphabet connect the dots, x-ray numbers, and matched animal x-rays. In art class, we made our own xylophones. Then we did an x-ray body part matching game and made an x-ray hand with q-tips. We also got to put together a whole skeleton x-ray! At the end of the day, we did a ‘count the room’ where kids went around the room to find the number of snowflakes in snow globes.

Wednesday we learned about words that end in X. We started the day coloring a fox. We did specials next, watched our Zoo phonics video, went over the Zoo phonics animal cards, and played a letter sounds game. We also learned some Spanish with a fun snowman game. In centers, we played tic tac toe, X tangrams, our X cutting page, and cut and glued X’s at the end of some words. At the end of the day, we did some makeup work and played with our friends.

Thursday was X marks the spot day. We started the day playing with toys with friends. In morning centers, we made an X book, did an X maze, a math treasure adding page, and started our treasure map. In afternoon centers, we finished our X book, made xylophones with magnets, did a coin and jewel adding page, and finished our treasure maps. At the end of the day, we did a treasure hunt with our maps and found the treasure!

See you next week for L week, lovebugs, love letters, and last names.
