This week was X week. Tuesday was x-ray day and we wore black and white. We started the day reading books with friends. In morning centers, we practiced writing upper and lowercase X, did our X cutting page, counted and wrote x-ray numbers, and matched the animal X-rays with the animals. In afternoon centers, we continued to write our X’s, made an x-ray of our hand using q-tips, did X pattern blocks, and matched X-rays to their body parts. For art, we made a xylophone. We ended the day with story time.

Wednesday was words that end with x day. We started the day coloring a fox. In centers, we wrote words that end in x, did a say and color words that end in x page, number pop its, and made X’s on geo boards. For specials, we practiced our Zoo phonics sounds and motions and watched some videos. At the end of the day we made X books together as a class and had story time.

Thursday was X marks the spot day. We started the day practicing writing our first and last names. In morning centers, we made predictions of if the groundhog will see his shadow or not, played tic tac toe with our friends, added numbers using gold coins and a treasure box, and made our maps for our treasure hunt. In afternoon centers, we did a groundhog roll and color game, found the groundhogs’ shadows, matched shape shadows, and played with xylophone magnets. At the end of the day we had our treasure hunt. The kids got to bring their maps and binoculars to find all the landmarks and then ended at the treasure! They each got to bring home a piece of the treasure we found. The kids loved this! See you next week for L week (love bugs, last names, and love letters)
