This week we focused on the letter Uu. We talked about the sound the letter Uu makes and words that begin with the letter Uu. We came up with Unicorn, underwater and umbrella.

On Tuesday, we focused on the theme of underwater. For centers, we matched different ways to show a number with the correct numbered fishbowl, did ocean themed pattern blocks, worked on matching the beginning sound to the right letter, and traced/wrote the letter Uu. Before lunch, we did the Uu says /u/ page. After lunch, we worked on our underwater scenes on plastic pouches and cut out our “flashlight”. We read books about underwater.

On Wednesday, we focused on the theme of the book A Great Day for Up. We had specials in the morning with the five all-day teachers. For centers, we colored our March monthly coloring/writing page, played an Ocean I-spy game, colored an underwater color-by-number, and practiced writing our letters on our LED tablets. In the afternoon, we started our “U is for Unicorn” cut and assemble craft. At the end of the day, we played a “fishy bubbles game”. We read the book A Great Day for Up.

On Thursday, we focused on the theme of umbrellas & unicorns. For morning art, we painted an underwater scene with watercolors. For centers, we practiced our ten frames with a unicorn theme, colored and umbrella color-by-number, practiced our beginning sound with an umbrella theme, and played a unicorn emotion game. In the afternoon, we painted and umbrella cutout. We read books about rain and unicorns.

Until next week,
