This week we focused on Dr. Seuss and the letter Ee. We talked about the sound the letter Ee makes and words that begin with the letter Ee. We came up with elephant, egg, earth, and ear.
On Tuesday, we focused on the theme of Dr. Seuss. We read book that Dr. Seuss wrote. For morning centers, we graphed “Goldfish” crackers by color, did a Cat in the Hat rhyming cut & paste page, matched upper- and lower-case ABCs with a Dr. Seuss theme, and traced/wrote the letter Ee. Then we did our Ee says /e/ page. After lunch, we worked on a Dr. Seuss write the room. At the end of the day, we played Dr. Seuss bingo.
On Wednesday, we focused on the theme of “Ee is for Elephant”. In the morning, we had specials with the five all-day teachers. Then for centers, we played a Dr. Seuss I-spy game, made March pictures out of snap cubes, “Feed the Elephant” the matching letters, and used magnets and an Ee is for Elephant to make the Ee and elephant. After lunch, we painted our hand to make an elephant out of it. At the end of the day, we colored a color-by-number elephant page. We read books with an elephant theme.
On Thursday, we focused on the theme of “Egg-speriment”. For morning art, we first read the book Elmer the Elephant and the did an Elmer art project. For centers, we worked on number sequencing and finding the number before and after a number, did a Humpty Dumpty sequencing page, worked on making words with word puzzles, and played with kinetic sand and elephant figurines. After lunch, we learned about making predictions and did our predictions for the egg drop experiment that we did at the end of the day with Mrs. Leslie.
Until next week,
