This week we learned about the letter U. Tuesday was Underwater adventure day. We started the day writing our names and numbers in our quick kits. In centers, we made underwater pouches, wrote upper and lowercase U, counted goldfish and put them into numbered fish bowls, and did our U cutting page. Then we had lunch and recess. For art, we painted with balloons! We also made our flashlights for our underwater pouches. These are one of my favorite activities and the kids loved to use their flashlights to see what they made underwater! I hope they came home and showed you the magic. To end the day we played our riddle game and then played with friends.
Wednesday was Up day. We started the day playing toys with friends. Then we had Specials and learned about the new letter U and the animal Umber Umbrellabird. We also played charades to review other letters we have learned. In centers, we sorted and graphed goldfish, did a U letter review page, a color by number, and played in a sensory bin. To end the day we did our March writing and coloring sample.
Thursday was Umbrellas and Unicorn day. We started the day coloring a unicorn. In morning centers, we wrote letters on the big board, counted gems to put into unicorn ten frames, colored a unicorn page, and put umbrellas in order from smallest to largest. In afternoon centers, we did a U umbrella page, found all the U’s, finished any coloring we didn’t get done, and wrote numbers and shapes on the big board. To end the day, we played a riddle game and then got to play with our friends.
See you next week for G week, gorillas, gumballs, grandparents, and gardens! We will also have our Grandparent performance 🙂
