This week we celebrated Spring and learned about the letter Y. Tuesday was the day we celebrated Spring and also Alex’s birthday. We started the day playing with toys with friends. In centers, we did a flower letter match game, a color by letter sheet, math flower petals, and a flower measurement page. For art, we made marble bunnies that look great in our classroom. Then we also made name flowers that are hanging in our hallway. At the end of the day, we played the riddle game and then toys with friends.
Wednesday was Y is for yellow day. We wore yellow and did a coloring page in the morning. For Specials, we learned about our new letter, animal, and sound. We also played a beanbag letter sounds game. In centers, we wrote upper and lowercase Y, did a yellow cut and glue page, made a yellow book, and did Y tangrams. At the end of the day, we did some makeup work, played, and had story time.
Thursday was Yarn day. We started the day writing our names and numbers. In morning centers, we wrote Y, found Y’s, did our Y cutting page, played with lacing cards, and laced a yellow Y with yarn. In afternoon centers, we wrote letters, numbers, and shapes on the big board, played with yellow Play-Doh to make Y’s, colored pictures that begin with Y, and made a Y for yo-yo craft. To end the day, we did yoga as a class and made yarn flowers.
See you next week for Q week, Queens and Quilts. We will also celebrate Easter!
