This week was Dr. Seuss week and we learned about the letter E. Tuesday we celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday. We started the day coloring a “cat in the hat” page. In centers, we wrote about green eggs and ham, did a hat rhyming page, a one fish two fish graphing and sorting activity, and a rhyming puzzle. For art, we traced our hand and cut it out to make Thing 1 and Thing 2. We also colored eggs and ham green and glued them onto a plate. We read a bunch of Dr. Seuss books and did a Dr. Seuss write the room to end the day.
Wednesday was Elephant day. We started the day reading books with friends. For Specials, we learned about Phonics and Spanish. We watched our Zoophonics video and played a fun game to learn about our letter sounds. In centers, we wrote upper and lowercase E, did our E cutting page, an elephant counting book, and played with magnets on an elephant. At the end of the day, we measured our feet with pennies, blocks, paper clips, and crayons.
Thursday was Humpty Dumpty Egg day. We started the day writing our first names, last names, and phone numbers. In morning centers, we wrote E’s, play a spin and cover E game, made egg patterns, and played with play-doh on an egg. Then we got to eat real green eggs and ham! Some kids loved it and some kids did not. It is always a fun thing we do for Dr. Seuss week. In afternoon centers, we practiced our E’s, did an egg cut and put back together with glue and band-aids, rolled Play-Doh into eggs in a nest, and played a roll and cover Humpty Dumpty game. At the end of the day, we did egg-speriments with the other All Day classrooms. We made predictions if an egg would break or not in different materials. The egg did not break rolled in paper towels and foil! This is always so much fun!
See you next week for U week, Underwater Adventures, Up day, and unicorns and umbrellas day.
