Hi Parents,

We had a great week with the letter Ee. Here’s a snapshot…

On Tuesday our theme was ‘Elephant Fun.’ In morning centers, the kids finished an elephant color by number, they looked for elephants in eggs, (They had to say the letter or number written on the egg and then they could open it and see if a plastic elephant was inside) and they colored different objects that start with the letter E with dry erase markers in quick kits. In afternoon centers the kids used magnets on the letter E, they played with magnetic cubes, and they worked on a creative writing project that goes with the Dr. Seuss book, ‘There’s A Wocket In My Pocket.’ They had to write about what was in their pocket and then draw the item. We had everything from a duck to a car! These are hanging in the hallway and will be in their binders at the end of the year. We ended the day by doing a ‘real’ vs. ‘pretend’ activity and then playing a gross movement game.

On Wednesday our theme was Emotions. In morning centers, the kids played a counting pop it game with dice, they worked on an emotions book, and they drew a card and made that face with kinetic sand on the outline of a blank face. In the afternoon the kids rotated through specials learning Spanish, science/math, sign language, and zoo phonics. We ended the day by working on a color by shape and listening to calming piano music.

On Thursday our theme was Eggs (humpty dumpty). In morning centers, the kids build a wall with numbers on it and put humpty dumpty on the top, they cut and glued humpty dumpty in sequence, and they cut out pieces of an egg and glued them together. They also worked on beginning sound puzzles that made eggs. In the afternoon the kids worked on their monthly name writing and coloring page (again with calming piano music! 🙂 We ended the day with art. After reading the book ‘Elmer,’ who is a colorful elephant, the kids tore paper and glued it on their own Elmer. This was a hard project for them, but they turned out great!

Next week we will be talking about the letter Gg. Don’t forget, on Thursday we are going to wear green. Looking forward to it.

Take Care,

Missy
