This week we focused on the letter Zz. We talked about the sound the letter Zz makes and words that begin with the letter Zz. We came up with zipper, zebra, zero, and zig zag.
On Tuesday, we focused on the theme of zoo. For morning start-up, we colored our Zz page. For morning centers, we used tanagram puzzle pieces to make zoo animals, played with zoo animals and kinetic sand, worked on a creative writing by writing what our favorite zoo animal is, and played an I-spy zoo animal game. After lunch, we packed our shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. We also read books with a zoo theme.
On Wednesday, we focused on the theme of zebras. For start-up, we practiced tracing/writing our names. In the morning, we had specials with all five all-day teachers. We are learning a lot of different things during this time. For morning centers, we colored our November monthly coloring page, made our letters with Play-doh, matched upper and lowercase ABCs with a zoo animal theme, and colored a zoo animal with a color-by-number page. After lunch, we worked on our cutting and pasting with a zebra puzzle. At the end of the day, we did our circle time. We also read books focusing on the letter Zz.
On Thursday, we focused on the theme of zig zags and zippers. For start-up, we played with our friends while we waited for everyone to arrive. For morning art, we worked on a zebra craft. For centers, we worked on patterning with linking chains, traced/wrote the letter Zz, and found the letter Zz in a maze and letter find. After lunch, we went on a scavenger hunt for zoo animals in the big room. At the end of the day, we worked on our the Zz says /z/ page. We continued to read books on zoo and the letter Zz.
Until next week,
