Hi Parents,
We had a great week learning about the letter Nn. Here is a snap shot…
On Tuesday our theme was ‘Noodle Necklaces.’ In morning centers the kids counted noodles on to sticks, they painted with noodles and they made a noodle necklace. In the afternoon we packed all 10 of our boxes for Operation Christmas Child. I posted a few pictures on GroupMe. The kids seemed to be excited to be sending them to kids their own ages that don’t have anything. Some years the kids don’t always understand, but this class I think did! We ended the day with some short centers. The kids put noodles on to pretend grass, they put beads on spaghetti noodles without breaking them, they played with LEGO, and they put together puzzles.
On Wednesday our theme was ‘Numbers.’ In the morning the kids rotated through specials learning Spanish, zoo phonics, science, and sign language. After lunch the kids had a chance to ‘hammer and nail’ the letter N (they used wooden mallets and golf tees) and stamp numbers on N. We ended the day with art. The kids made themselves out of the first letter of their name. These turned out really cute and are hanging in our hallway!
On Thursday our theme was ‘Names.’ In morning centers the kids clipped clothes pins on number wheels, they cut and glued their N page, they cut and glued the letters of their first name, and they worked on another name worksheet. In the afternoon, the kids colored their monthly name writing page. They also cut and glued their last name and drew a picture of themselves. The last names were harder than the first names but they did great! We ended the day with toys out in the big room.
Next week is our last full week before Thanksgiving and of course we are talking about the letter T. Looking forward to it!
Take Care,
Missy
