Hi Parents,

We had a great week with the letter T. Here’s a snap shot…

On Tuesday our theme was ‘Turkey Tuesday.’ In centers the kids drew cards and counted feathers on to a turkey (a colander), they disguised a turkey by cutting out clothes and hair/hats and gluing them on, and they counted turkey feathers and clipped the correct number with a clothes pin. In afternoon centers the kids ‘fed a turkey’ by using tweezers to put pom poms into a plastic bottle, they used magnets to fill in a turkey, and completed a turkey color by number. We ended they day by playing a game called ‘turkey in the hay.’ I hid a turkey behind hay that had a shape on it. To guess where the turkey was the kids had to say the shape and the color of the shape. This is another game that’s fun and also a challenge!

On Wednesday our theme was ‘triangles and transportation.’ In centers the kids parked cars in a parking lot. The parking spaces had dots in them, the kids had to count the dots and park the correct car with the correct number on it in the spot. They also cut, traced, and colored triangles, and sorted different kinds of vehicles in to air, land and sky. In the afternoon the kids rotated through specials learning Spanish, sign language, zoo phonics, and math/science. We ended the day by playing a game with cars called ‘red light, green light’ and racing cars down plastic tracks.

On Thursday our theme was ‘Thankful Thursday.’ In centers the kids counted whip cream scoops on pie pieces and placed them correctly into the pie, they cut and glued the letter Tt on to a turkey, and they colored their ‘I am thankful for’ place mat. They also wrote what they are thankful for! In afternoon centers the kids completed an upper and lowercase letter match, made gratitude bracelets, and matched numbers in 5 different ways (i.e., tally marks, fingers, dominoes, etc.). We ended the day with art. The kids painted something special for you, which you will get to see in December! 🙂

Next week is our party on Tuesday and then Thanksgiving. Looking forward to a fun party!

Take Care,

Missy
