Hi Parents,
We had a fun week learning about the letter Tt. Here is a snap shot…
On Tuesday our theme was ‘Turkeys.’ In morning centers the kids counted feathers on to a ‘turkey’ (a colander), they used magnets on a turkey picture and they disguised a turkey by cutting and gluing clothes for it. This is one of my favorite projects, our disguised turkeys are hanging in our hallway! In afternoon centers the kids cut and glued Tt’s on to turkey feathers, they fed a ‘turkey’ pom poms with tweezers, and they worked on a turkey color by number. We ended the day by finishing up our work from the morning and starting to make some of our Christmas ornaments!
On Wednesday our theme was ‘Triangles and Transportation,’ In the morning the kids rotated through specials learning Spanish, sign language, science, and zoo phonics. In the afternoon the kids colored and cut out a turkey, which we finished in art, and raced cars down a track. For art the kids made feathers for their turkey with their hand prints. These have been assembled and are hanging in the big room. Be sure to look for them if you are at the party next week! We ended the day with toys.
On Thursday our theme was ‘What are you Thankful for?’ In morning centers the kids counted scoops of whip cream and created a pie, they colored and wrote what they are thankful for, and they outlined turkey shapes with beads. For afternoon centers the kids finished their placemats, dot painted a turkey, and they played with magnet blocks and kinetic sand. We ended the day by doing an activity called ‘Hey riddle, riddle.’ I hung pictures that started with T on the wall and the kids picked a clue out for me to read. They then had to try to find the picture on the wall that the clue described/rhymed with. This is a great activity to help with rhyming. We will do this activity again with different letters!
Next week our party is on Tuesday at 1:15. Looking forward to it!
Take Care,
Missy
