This week we focused on the letter Nn. We talked about the sound the letter Nn made and words that begin with the letter Nn. We came up with number, noodle, name, night, and necklace.
On Tuesday, we focused on the theme of names. For morning start-up, we colored our Nn page while we waited for our friends to arrive. For morning centers, we used our name and made it into a ten frame, traced/wrote the letter Nn, traced/ wrote our names, and used linking chain to make patterns. We then did our the Nn says /n/ page. In the afternoon, we worked on a pumpkin name craft by cutting out each letter and then piecing it back together to make a pumpkin. We also read books about the letter Nn and fall.
On Wednesday, we focused on the theme of numbers. We talked about what we used numbers for and the difference between numbers and letters. In the morning, we had specials with the five all-day teachers. For morning centers, we made ten frames with Play-Doh mats, practiced writing our numbers in sand trays, worked on number to dot correspondence with clip cards, and made numbers with snap cubes. In the afternoon, we worked on recognizing numbers 0-20 by playing number bingo. At the end of the day, we practiced writing our numbers on whiteboards. We also read books on numbers and fall.
On Thursday, we focused on the theme of noodle necklaces. For morning centers, we made towers by counting dice and using that many unifix cubes, made letters out of pop-its, worked on finding the letter Nn in a maze and letter find, and made letters with the letter construction manipulatives. For art, we used watercolors to paint and reveal our names. In the afternoon, we had fun in the big room by doing a find the number write the room. At the end of the day, we made noodle necklaces. We read books about the fall and the letter Nn.
Until next week,
