Hi Parents,
We had a fun week learning about the letter ‘Zz.’ Here is a snap shot…
On Tuesday our theme was ‘Zoo.’ In morning centers the kids worked on zoo animal patterns, they did some creative writing, ‘If I could be any animal at the zoo…’, and they made zoo animals with pattern blocks. In afternoon centers the kids made zoo cages with popsicle sticks and kinetic sand, they worked on a giraffe do a dot page, they cut and glued zoo animals and farm animals, and they colored pictures that start with Z. We ended the day by finishing our work from morning centers and playing with toys.
On Wednesday our theme was ‘Zig Zags and Zippers.’ The kids spent the morning rotating through specials learning Spanish, sign language, zoo phonics, and science. In the afternoon the kid cut and glued zippers on to the letter Z and they cut zig zags. We ended the day with art. The kids cut out a zoo animal, then used Crayola markers and water to print the colors on to the animal. These were really fun to make and turned out cute!
On Thursday our theme was ‘Zebras.’ In morning centers the kids rolled dice and ‘fed’ a zebra pom poms with tweezers, they made a zebra with the letter Z, they worked on their Z page, and they played with zoo animals and mega blocks. In afternoon centers the kids painted a zebra with dot markers, they wrote the letter Z and colored a zebra, and they made zig zags and z’s with kinetic sand. They also finished their zebra from morning centers. We ended the day outside!
Next week we will talk about the letter N. Looking forward to it!
Take Care,
Missy
