This week we focused on the letter Nn. We talked about the sound the letter Nn makes and words that begin with the letter Nn. We came up with November, nine, necklace, night, and nickel.

On Tuesday, we focused on the theme of “noodle necklaces”. For morning centers, we played a candy corn counting matching game, did our Nn says /n/ page, matched upper and lower-case ABCs and traced/wrote the letter Nn. For afternoon centers, we did a letter Nn letter maze, made noodle necklaces, practiced lacing with ABCs, and did word puzzles. At the end of the day, we got to pack shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. We talked about where these boxes are going to go and how this might be the first present a little boy/girl might ever have gotten. We also prayed over the boxes.

On Wednesday, we focused on the theme of numbers. For morning centers, we made numbers and ten frames out of Play-Doh and number mats, practiced writing out numbers with sand trays, made our numbers out of snap cubes, and used clothespins to clip the correct number to the number of dots. In the afternoon, we had specials with all four all-day teachers. At the end of the day, we played numbers bingo.

On Thursday, we focused on the theme of names. For morning centers, we made ten frames with the letters of our names, did a cutting pumpkin name craft, practiced tracing/writing our names, and played with Legos. In the afternoon, we worked our way through a “Name Book”. The kids all did very well with this activity. At the end of the day, we finished up our name pumpkins.

Please keep working with your child and writing their names. This will really help since after the first of the year, I will be sending their first and last names home for practicing.

We are now eating the second lunch with Missy’s class. This is so the kids get to meet and talk with other classmates.

Until next week,

Mrs. Brandi
