Hi Parents,

We had a great week with the letter R. Here is a snap shot…

On Tuesday our theme was Rectangles and Robots. In centers the kids measured robots with unifix cubes and wrote the numbers, they put together robot rhyming cards, and they traced, colored, and cut rectangles. In afternoon centers the kids used magnets, they put together counting puzzles, and cut and glued robots. The kids ended the day by cutting out rectangles and squares and sorting them into 2 different bins. They all smiled great for their pictures!

On Wednesday our theme was Rockets. In centers the kids colored a rocket by number, made their name into a rocket, and played with a sensory bin with ‘planets, astronauts, moon rocks’ and kinetic sand. In the afternoon we had our second week of specials. All of the kids rotated through each class learning Spanish, math, sign language, and zoo phonics. We ended the day by finishing up our morning work from centers.

On Thursday our theme was Rainbows. In centers the kids rolled a die and covered the number on a rainbow, they glued colors onto a cloud and wrote their names, and they made rainbow patterns with popsicle sticks. In the afternoon we did a science experiment with skittles, then we went outside to blast off our stomp rockets. It rained on Wednesday, so we didn’t have a chance to use them then. It was chilly and windy but really fun! We ended the day with art. The kids drew a rainbow and then painted the background with watercolors. These turned out really cute, we will finish them next week.

Next week we talk about the letter O. Don’t forget to wear orange on Thursday!!

Take Care,

Missy
