This week we focused on the letter Rr. We talked about the sound the letter Rr makes and words that begin with the letter Rr. We came up with rabbit, rainbow, robot, rockets and rectangle.
On Tuesday, we focused on the themes of rectangle and robot. For morning centers, we matched gears (Brain flakes) with robot themed cards, colored a robot trace and color, traced/wrote the letter Rr, and measured robots with unifix cubes. For afternoon centers, we made robots with playdoh mats, robot patterns, made rectangles with our geoboards, and built a robot with tanagram pieces by playing a Roll the robot game. At the end of the day, we made a rectangle robot. We also read a book Petet the Cat and Robo Pete. Today we also took our school pictures.
On Wednesday, we focused on rockets. For morning centers, we played with tanagrams and the rocket and robot pictures, did the Rr says/r/ cutting page, traced our ABCs with ABC rockets, and used tweezers to match the colored pom poms to the right colored container. In the afternoon, we had specials with all four all-day teachers. At the end of the day, we played a rhyming riddle game “Letter-Rr, Find the Object”. We also read My Rr Book.
On Thursday, we focused on the theme of rainbows. For morning centers, art with made a rainbow R by using Fruit Loops and cotton balls. For afternoon centers, we made rainbow towers with unifix cubes to match the number on the rainbow mats, wrote our names on all six color strips for our rainbow project, matched upper and lower-case ABCs with a rainbow theme, and colored a rainbow fish color-by-number. At the end of the day, we got to meet with the Lake Hills Fire Department. We got to hear about what they do and how to keep safe if there’s a fire. We also got to see a fire truck and ambulance. We had a great time!!! We also read How the Crayons Saved the Rainbow and Peppa’s Rainbow.
As you can see, we are very busy during the day!!!!
