This week we focused on the letter Oo. We talked about the sound the Oo makes and words that start with the letter Oo. We came up with owl, octopus, opposite, oval and orange.

On Tuesday, we focused on the theme of opposites. We talked about what an opposite was and some of the opposites we use in everyday life. For morning centers, we matched opposite cards, did our Oo says /o/ page, traced/wrote the letter Oo, and worked on our fine motors skills by using a hole punch. For afternoon centers, we worked on opposites with a worksheet, made Oo out of playdoh and did and Oo practiced page. Also, the firemen came to visit today.

On Wednesday, we focused on the theme of owls and ovals. For morning centers, we made an Oo with tanagram shapes, cut out ovals, matched upper- and lower-case ABCs with an owl theme, and used magnets to outline an owl. In the afternoon, we had specials with all four all-day teachers. before we got to go home, we played a game of “I have…./Who has… with shapes and colors. For the first time playing that game, they did good.

On Thursday, we focused on the color orange and outside. For art, we sponge painted and owl shape body and will finish our owls next week since they had to dry. For centers in the afternoon, we matched one to one correspondence with fall themed clip cards, did a leaf push pin art, did our October monthly writing/drawing page and laced with fall leaves lacing cards. We did a nature walk with Mrs. Brenda’s class outside and observing the outdoors. We also had chapel before we went home. We talked about Noah’s Ark.

I hope to see a lot of you at the pumpkin patch.

Until next week,

Mrs. Brandi
