Hi Parents,

We had a great week learning about the letter P! Here is a snapshot…

On Tuesday our theme was ‘Pumpkins.’ In morning centers, the kids worked on 2 counting pumpkin sheets, they matched the letters in a pumpkin patch, and they tried to find the spider in the pumpkin. The kids drew a letter, said the letter, and then had the chance to look inside one of 6 pumpkins in order to find the spider. In afternoon centers, the kids drew a face on a pumpkin and cut it out, they put orange or silver beads on a pipe cleaner, and they made a pumpkin craft with strips of paper. We ended the day with a group listening activity and some toys.

Wednesday was our party! The kids had so much fun playing with balloons, tossing a ball in pumpkin buckets, trick-or-treating and eating cookies for a snack. Since our party was in the morning, we still did some fun centers in the afternoon. The kids spun a spinner and counted plastic spiders, they put candy corn on letters, and they worked on a pumpkin pin poke. We ended the day by painting little pumpkins. Those will come home next week!

On Thursday the theme was ‘Popcorn and PJ’s.’ In morning centers, the kids did some popcorn writing, they glued ‘popcorn’ (cotton balls) on to a popcorn bucket and then made it yellow by using eye droppers and yellow water. They also played in a water table. This is the first time I have done a water table for centers, and they loved it! We will definitely be doing it again. In the afternoon I left to go volunteer at my son’s school and Mrs. Laura taught for me. The kids did a letter write the room and then watched Spookley. We love that movie!

Next week is a whole new month, time is flying! Looking forward to it.

Take Care,

Missy
