This week we focused on the letter Ff. We talked about the sound the letter Ff makes and words that begin with the letter Ff. We came up with fox, fire, firemen, frog, farm, four, and five.
On Tuesday, we had a very busy day with pictures and the firemen that came to visit us. We got to listen to the firemen talk and saw what a fireman looks like with all their gear on. Then we went outside to see the firetruck. We even got to sit in the firetruck!!!! In the afternoon, we did our the Ff says /f/ page. At the end of the day, we listened to Mrs. Brandi read a poem and colored our farm following directions paper. It was kind of a crazy day but the kids just rolled with it!!!!!
On Wednesday, we started the day off by practicing tracing/writing our names. Then we went into our specials. Again, this is where we get to visit all 5 of the full-day teachers and learn about Spanish, literacy, sign language and science. We all love specials!!!! For morning centers, we counted out the correct number of corn kernels that matched the corn picking card, played with farm animals and kinetic sand, practiced tracing/writing the letter Ff, and copied the farm themed tanagram puzzles. After lunch and as a group activity, we worked on our patterning. We did a farm themed patterning page. At the end of the day, we got to play with our friends in play centers.
On Thursday, we started the day by welcoming our friends to school. For morning centers, we worked on our number recognition with frog themed playdoh mats, we started an Itsy, Bitsy Spider sequencing page, matched our upper-and-lower ABCs with a frog theme, and worked on our fine motor by using an eyedropper, water and counted how many drops it took to fill up the circle. After centers and as a group activity, we colored a farm color-by-letter page. For afternoon art, we painted our hands which are going to be turned into a cow for our “Down on the ABC Farm” wall. At the end of the day, we did a frog following directions drawing and then got to cut out his lily pad and glue our frogs onto.
As always, any questions you may have, please reach out to me!!!!
Until next week,
Mrs. Brandi
