This week was R week. We started Tuesday with Rectangles and Robots day. We practiced tracing and writing our names. In morning centers, we traced zig zags on a robot, practiced tracing upper and lowercase R, played a roll a robot game, and did some fine motor activity with tweezers and pom poms. In afternoon centers, we did robot tangrams, traced and colored a robot, traced colored and cut rectangles, and made rectangles on geo boards using rubber bands. For art, we made rectangle robots and ended the day with story time.

Wednesday was rocket day. We started the morning playing toys with friends. For centers, we did our R cutting page, traced the alphabet and played an ispy space game, played a roll and build rocket activity, and a rocket color by number. In specials, we watched a ZooPhonics video and reviewed our ZooPhonics letters we learned this far with the animal, motion, and letter sound. We even got to play with stomp rockets outside! The kids loved this!

Thursday was Radiant Rainbow day. Our morning work was to color a rainbow. The fire department came this day and the kids had so much fun seeing a firetruck and an ambulance. They got to meet a few firefighters and see how they put on their uniform and mask. This is always a fun day! In centers, we made rainbow bead bracelets, made rainbow number towers with blocks, wrote our names on each color of the rainbow to made a rainbow decoration to hang in our room, and talked about what we like to share with a rainbow fish activity. At the end of the day, we did a color the room, where they had to find all the letters of the alphabet around the room and then color that letter on their sheet. We ended the day with story time and talked about our exciting week next week. I look forward to seeing you all at Kregels pumpkin farm for another field trip and our O week with observing the outdoors, owls, and ovals.
