This week we learned about the letter F. Tuesday was our first ABC farm day and we also had picture day. We started the day writing our first and last names. In centers, we practiced writing upper and lowercase F, did our F cutting page, did some tracing with numbers, and played with farm toys. In art, we made sheep hand prints for our ABC farm. Then we did an animal order by size activity and played with our friends. At the end of the day, we played a riddle game and had story time.
Wednesday we continued with our ABC farm theme. We started the day playing with toys with friends. We had Specials and the kids rotated through 4 teachers, Phonics, Sign language, Spanish, and Science. In afternoon centers, we did some farm letter tracing, did a farm yard coloring page, matched upper and lowercase letters on tractors, and did a farm patterns page. At the end of the day, we watched a video and continued our beginning of the year evaluations.
Thursday was Frog day. We started the day coloring a frog page. Instead of centers, we did the following directions group activity. We do these a couple times throughout the year. The kids have to listen to a set of directions and color the page accordingly. This is great to see how much they improve throughout the year. We also talked about the life cycle of a frog and did a page together. In afternoon centers, we played a frog game, found all the F’s, put frog number cards in order, and cut some frog pages. At the end of the day, we did makeup work, played with our friends, and had story time.
