Hi Parents,

We had a really fun week all about Pete the Cat! Here is a snapshot…

On Tuesday we read Pete the Cat’s ‘Rocking In My School Shoes’ and ‘I Love My White Shoes’ books. In centers the kids worked on a color by number, they made shapes with Mega Blocks, and they did a creative writing about what color shoes they were ‘rocking’ like Pete. In the afternoon we made Pete the Cat. I sent a picture of the finished projects in the Group Me App. They are hanging in the hall next to our classroom. The kids cut out Pete’s body and legs and colored his shoes, then they glued everything together. It was quite the project, they did great! We ended the day by finishing up our coloring and reading some more Pete books.

On Wednesday we read Pete the Cat’s ‘Four Groovy Buttons’ book and ‘Too Cool For School.’ In centers the kids counted buttons on to Pete’s shirt, build patterns with blocks, and rolled letter cubes and wrote the letter. They also glued foil on to their ‘cool’ sunglasses like Pete. In the afternoon the kids used Duplo blocks and magnetic tiles to build, and stamped buttons on Pete’s shirt that they also cut out. We ended the day by reading more Pete the Cat books and finishing up some of our work.

On Thursday we read Pete the Cat’s ‘Big Lunch.’ In centers the kids rolled dice and wrote numbers, put buttons on to pipe cleaners, and colored a picture of Pete the cat with his lunch box. In the afternoon the kids finished their Pete the Cat picture and also drew his big lunch on the paper. They then cut and glued Pete on to another piece of paper. The last thing the kids worked on were patterns with Pete’s shoes. We will end every Thursday with art. This week the kids made a fun abstract painting using cotton balls, paint stix, toilet paper rolls, stamps, cups, and sponges. It was a good activity for them to practice listening to where to go next AND they had a blast doing it!

Next week is all about the letter Aa!

Looking forward to it,

Missy
