We had a great 2nd week of school. Our theme was ‘All About Me.’ Here is a snapshot…
On Monday, in the morning after circle time and bathroom, the kids played a giant balance game. They had to roll the die and place whatever piece they rolled. The goal was to keep it balanced without falling over. This is a fun game that we will definitely play again! After lunch and recess, the kids wrote their names and colored, then we headed out to the lunch tables for art. The kids put stickers on their names printed in bubble letters. After art we had show and share. Each student came up to the front of the class and showed their all about me page that you sent in at the beginning of the year. I also read each of their apples to them. These were the apples where you finished the phrase, ‘____is the apple of my eye because…’ The kids loved hearing what you had to say about them!
On Tuesday, after circle time and bathroom, we had extra big room time, so they had the chance to play with toys. After lunch and recess, the kids rotated through centers. They counted and stacked unifix cubes, they cut zig zags, they laced letters, and they used kinetic sand with cookie cutters. Before dismissal, the kids worked on rainbow writing their names, they played with minions and built with peg boards.
On Wednesday before lunch, we had time to do some short centers. The kids decorated the first letter of their name with dot markers, stickers, and stampers and then wrote their name at the bottom of the page. They also built with Duplos and drew on my light up boards. After lunch and recess the kids rotated through centers. They used clothes pins to clip numbers on number wheels, they cut and glued a back-to-school puzzle, they found the letters to their name, built it, and then wrote it, and they played with my mini sand boxes. The kids ended the day by drawing a picture of themselves in a colored frame and playing with toys.
Thursday was our field trip to the apple orchard. I’m so glad it stopped raining and I hope everyone had a great time!!
Next week we will be talking about the letter Aa. Looking forward to it!
