This week we focused on the letter Aa. We talked about the sound the letter Aa makes and words that begin with the letter Aa. We came up with apple, alligator, airplane, astronaut, and alien.
All week we focused on the theme of apples!!!
On Tuesday, we colored an Aa page while we waited for all our friends to arrive. For morning centers, we counted out the correct apple erasers and put them in muffin tins, cut and pasted an apple sequencing page, practiced tracing/writing the letter Aa, and worked on an apple push pin art. In The afternoon, we did the Aa says /a/ cut and paste page. We then finished up our Original Works project and colored the stem and leaf on an apple cutout for a future art project. We also read books about apples!!! We also had our first chapel in the church. We learned about The Golden Rule!!!
On Wednesday, we were to wear red to school. We practiced tracing/writing our names while our friends arrived at school. For morning centers, we made our numbers with play-doh with an apple theme, we found the letter Aa in an Aa maze and an Aa letter find, matched upper- and lower-case ABCs with an apple theme, and made towers by using the correct number of unifix cubes. In the afternoon, we worked on finding the letters of our name on an apple themed worksheet. We also worked on an apple name craft. At the end of the day, we played alphabet and number bingo!!!! We also read more book on the letter Aa and apples!!!
On Thursday, we played with our friends while waiting for our friends to get there. For morning art, we tore red, green and yellow tissue paper and put into an apple cutout. We then laminated them to make a “stained glass like” project!!! For centers, we practiced tracing/writing our names, played an apple letter find game, and used play-doh to make the number of the caterpillar had on his card. At the end of the day, we got to taste a green, yellow and red apple and then we recorded which one was our favorite and if we liked or didn’t like each one. We then “finished the apple” by drawing our own apple!!!
Please keep working with your child on their name writing and scissors skills at home!!!
Until next week,
Mrs. Brandi
