This week we focused on the letter Mm. We talked about the sound the letter Mm makes and words that begin with the letter Mm. We came up with mom, mouse, muffin, moose, mountain and magnet.
On Tuesday, we focused on the theme of magnets. For start-up, we colored a Mm page while we waited for our friends to arrive. For morning centers, we used magnet wands with a paper clip to practice making our shapes, used magnet wands with different magnets to see how magnets work, matched our upper and lower ABCs with magnets, and built with magnatiles. After centers, we worked on our Mm says /m/ page. In the afternoon, we did our September monthly writing/drawing page and at the end of the day, we played ABC & Number bingo!!!!! We read books with the letter Mm in them.
On Wednesday, we focused on the theme of If You Give a Moose a Muffin. For morning start-up, we practiced tracing/writing our names. For morning centers, we counted the number of muffins on the card and clipped the corresponding number, played with an If You Give a Moose a Muffin sensory bin, worked on ABC matching with a moose/muffin theme, and did a moose/muffin creative writing page. After lunch, we got to eat muffins!!! They were yummy!!!! At the end of the day, we worked on our listening skills and did an If You Give a Moose a Muffin sequencing page all together. We also read the book If You Give a Moose a Muffin.
On Thursday, we focused on the theme of mustaches. For morning start-up, we played with blocks and Brainflakes while we waited for our friends to arrive. For morning centers, we measured mustaches with uni-fix cubes, we colored and cut out our own mustaches, trace/wrote the letter Mm, and worked on tanagram puzzles. In the afternoon, we assembled our astronaut craft, from last week, by cutting out the moon that we painted and glueing all the pieces together. We also read the book Moostache!!!!
