Hi Parents, we had such a fun first week of school! Our theme all week was ‘All about me.’ The kids did several projects about themselves and had a chance to share their all about me pages you filled out at home. Here is a snapshot of the week…

On Tuesday in morning centers the kids built numbers with snap cubes, they made shapes with cookie cutters in kinetic sand, they played with magna tiles, and they drew themselves on their first day of school. In afternoon centers the kids practiced writing their names, worked on letter puzzles, and built with connecting sticks. We ended our day by reading the book ‘The Pigeon Has To Go To School’ and playing with toys.

On Wednesday in morning centers the kids sorted colorful objects, by color, with tweezers, they made shapes with popsicle sticks, they practiced their name and drew on a giant dry erase board, and they strung wooden beads on to a string. In the afternoon we had art and kids colored, cut and glued pencils with their names on them. We ended the day with puzzles and toys.

On Thursday in morning centers the kids sorted pom poms into cups around a table, using a scooper, they practiced cutting, they build with LEGO’s, and they looked in the mirror and drew themselves. In afternoon centers the kids built with blocks and ‘smarty parts,’ they cut and sorted circles and ovals, and they drew their families. We ended the day with show and share! The kids had the chance to stand in front of class and show their ‘all about me’ page. I asked them to share who is in their family, their favorite food, and what they want to be when they grow up. It was a really fun way to end our day and week!

Next week our theme is Toy Story for the entire week. I told the kids to wear their favorite toy story shirt if they have one. We will be doing lots of fun toy story themed things!

Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Have a great weekend,

Missy
